Maxwell Hall

Maxwell Hall was the only observatory west of the Appalachians when it was constructed in 1844. The original telescope pedestal still is intact and serves as the centerpiece of Creative Campus's reception area.

Maxwell housed UA's Computer Based Honors Program before becoming home to Creative Campus in January 2007. Creative Campus introduced the public to its newly renovated building with a grand opening celebration on May 4, 2007.

Specially designed with the help of Michelle Lee, instructor in the UA College of Human Environmental Sciences, Maxwell Hall has been transformed into a fluid, open space conducive to collaboration and creativity.

In addition to housing the administrative offices for Creative Campus Initiative, Maxwell Hall features a large multi-purpose room used for honors classes, workspace for student interns, and Creative Campus meetings and events.

Wall and shelf space throughout the building allows for Maxwell Hall to double as a gallery, where Creative Campus can exhibit the creative work of University students and faculty as well as others with innovative and stimulating projects.
